Turkish Airlines has had membership with the Star Alliance network of airlines since April, 2008. The airlines have more than fifteen thousand employees and are centered in Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkish Airlines has received plenty of prestige awards within the past few years. One award was bestowed by Skytrax because the airlines offers the best quality of Economy Class flight food service in the world. Also, Turkish Airlines has been named as Europe’s fastest growing airline. This should not come as a surprise considering the number of consecutive years in which profits have grown.
There seems to be an increase in passenger flow especially among expatriates. Once they pick good responsible moving services to relocate, then their next move is to estimate relocation expenses, and select Turkish Airlines as their carrier of choice.
Valencia, Spain is the new addition to Turkish Airlines’ list of destination planned for the end of March of this year, with four flights scheduled per week. The following month, namely April, will see the additional of another route, between Malaga and Istanbul. There will be three flights per week on this route. Turkish Airlines already flies to Madrid and Barcelona and these are simply additions. Turkish Airlines will have a pretty full year, judging according to the plans they have disclosed, and this is just the beginning. There will be many additions to the company’s destinations this year. A number of flights to France are being planned for the summer of 2011, with destinations such as Toulouse, Paris, Nice and Lyon. That will bring the total international destinations to 175, and the year has only just begun. Yet one more US flight gateway was added in June, 2010 for Turkish Airlines. This newest expansion increases the total number of US originated gateways to three with nonstop flights from Washington DC to Istanbul, Turkey. There will be four flights per week flying out of Dulles International Airport. The airliner of choice will be the Airbus A330. The move represents continued efforts to allow more Americans the opportunity to discover the beauty of Turkey and all she has to offer. Truly, Istanbul can be considered a unique blend of a modern cosmopolitan city and ancient, old world history. Also, a fourth US gateway is on the horizon for March 2011 that will begin in Los Angeles, Ca and stop in Istanbul.
Elite Plus members can also benefit by having their rewards consolidated into one account with Miles & Smiles family memberships. This offers a higher level of convenience to members, who will now be able to access the miles they’ve earned in the same account.
Not only is this for the individual account holders, but the saved and generated miles will also apply to their family members, as well. The miles can be earned from purchases made from the Miles & Smiles credit card and flights with partnered Star Alliance member airlines. It appears that US passengers can take advantage of flying with Turkish Airlines from either sides of the country. That offers new possibilities for travel and easily makes new destinations available. Los Angeles and Washington DC are two of the largest international hubs in the US and the airline runs multiple flights every week to and from these destinations.
